Meta is making its next smart glasses Oakley wraparounds
Meta is said to be working on a flurry of new wearables, including Oakley-branded smart glasses geared toward athletes, according to Bloomberg reporting.
The wraparounds mark another collab with EssilorLuxottica — which also owns Meta’s other smart glasses partner, Ray-Ban. They certainly play into the narrative that Mark Zuckerberg and co. are cozying up to the GOP, as Oakley glasses are frequently associated with Trump supporters.
Other devices in the works would reportedly compete with Apple’s wearable line, including AirPods and the Apple Watch. Meta is said to have developed prototypes of earbuds with built-in cameras to rival AirPods. One issue: they don’t work for people with long hair.
