Meta seems to be leaning into the one cool part of the Metaverse

Meta is in talks to buy a 5% stake in EssilorLuxottica, the trendy eyeware company behind Ray-Bans, with whom the social media company has partnered to make its Ray-Ban smart glasses, the Wall Street Journal reports. (The FT earlier reported the investment but didn’t report details on its size.)

In a field of wearable duds, the collaboration has been a bright spot for Meta. The relatively attractive and functional smart glasses are also a key component to keeping the company’s metaverse vision alive by pairing it with its AI ambitions.
