Kroger, the second largest US grocery store by market share, is hoping you say around six months’ worth. As of this week, the grocer is offering members of its Kroger Boost delivery program ad-supported versions of Disney streaming services (Disney+, Hulu, or ESPN+) at no extra cost for at least half a year.
Streaming and retail love to partner up. Walmart+ members get a free Paramount+ subscription, Instacart+ subscribers receive a free Peacock subscription, and Amazon Prime customers of course have access to Amazon Prime Video.
Others in the food industry have taken a more direct approach. Chick-fil-A is reportedly planning to launch a streaming platform this year to create reality shows and scripted content — despite the rest of the entertainment industry massively cutting spending.
