As climate change became less important to Elon Musk, so did making an affordable electric car

Elon Musk used to say he cared about climate change. Now he thinks it’s not that urgent. That shift in opinion is part of the reason Tesla axed its long-awaited mass-market car, the Model 2, The Washington Post reports, citing people familiar with Musk’s thinking. It has also caused several senior executives to depart the company.

Musk’s politics hadn’t seeped into Tesla. Then he axed its eco car of the future.
