Apple is trying to bring its relationship with OpenAI to the next level

To make up for trailing its peers in AI, Apple partnered with OpenAI earlier this summer in order to put ChatGPT on its iPhones. Now it seems Apple would like to take the relationship to the next level. The iPhone maker is considering investing in the ChatGPT-maker in a multi-billion dollar funding round, alongside Microsoft and Thrive Capital, that would value the latter at $100 billion, the Wall Street Journal reports. That would suggest Apple wants something more long-term, and its interest in OpenAI’s technology is more than just a fling.
