OpenAI launches “ChatGPT Gov”
OpenAI announced “ChatGPT Gov” as part of its aggressive pursuit of US government contracts.
Seeking to allay security and privacy concerns raised by using a consumer product in government agencies, OpenAI is rolling out a customized version of its ChatGPT chatbot.
According to OpenAI, ChatGPT Gov can be run on government agencies’ Microsoft Azure cloud-computing infrastructure, rather than depending exclusively on OpenAI’s own servers.
OpenAI recently published an “AI in America” blueprint chock-full of policy proposals, which basically reads like a list of demands for the US government.
CEO Sam Altman appeared at The White House last week with President Trump to announce Project Stargate, a $500 billion AI infrastructure joint venture with Oracle and SoftBank.
OpenAI, Meta, and Anthropic are all pitching their technology for use in defense and national security. Recently, OpenAI announced a partnership with defense contractor Anduril, and Anthropic has partnered with Palantir to bring its Claude AI models to national security applications.
