OpenAI hits $10 billion in annual recurring revenue

OpenAI announced that it is now pulling in $10 billion in annual recurring revenue, CNBC reports.

The impressive revenue stream is driven by consumer, business, and API subscriptions. The company had been expecting about $13 billion in revenue for 2025, according to The Information.

This number doesn’t include any revenue from Microsoft’s $14 billion investment.

The AI startup was valued at $300 billion after raising $40 billion in its latest round of fundraising. It’s planning a transition to a public benefit corporation, and will continue to be controlled by a smaller nonprofit.

OpenAI needs huge amounts of cash to run its services and has huge capex plans, including the $500 billion Stargate data center. Last year, the company lost about $5 billion on $3.7 billion in revenue.
