Chipmaker FuriosaAI says no to Meta’s $800 million offer

After depending almost exclusively on Nvidia’s chips to build their AI models, it seems everyone is hedging their bets and making their own chips.

Amazon, OpenAI, and Google all have either deployed or are working on their own chip designs.

Meta is also investing heavily in its own AI chips.

As part of the company’s efforts to stay ahead of the pack, it sought to purchase the South Korean chip startup FuriosaAI for $800 million. The startup rejected the offer and wants to continue as an independent business, according to Bloomberg.
