After Jensen Huang’s Mar-a-Lago visit, Trump halts new Nvidia H20 controls: Report
When the Big Tech CEOs attended President Trump’s inauguration, there was one major figure missing: Nvidia CEO and cofounder Jensen Huang.
But since then, Nvidia has been exposed to the chaotic forces of Trump’s worldwide tariffs, potentially jeopardizing a $17 billion business selling underpowered AI GPUs tailored for the Chinese market, like the H20.
NPR is reporting that Huang attended a $1 million-per-plate dinner at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort last week. Shortly after attending that dinner, plans to add further export controls on the H20 were paused.
Nvidia and other companies, including Oracle, have been lobbying the White House to weaken the “AI diffusion” rules set to take effect on May 15.
