AMC soars after booking record revenues for Memorial Day weekend
AMC is spiking in early trading after the theater chain reported that Memorial Day weekend sales (Tom) cruised to a record.
“From Thursday through the Monday holiday, AMC set all-time weekend records for the Memorial Day holiday for admissions revenue, food & beverage revenue, and overall revenue at its domestic locations,” a press release reported.
Management credited the results to the “robust openings” of “Lilo & Stitch” and “Mission: Impossible — The Final Reckoning.”
Of course, inflation means that the box office should pretty much be setting fresh records as the years go by. In terms of attendance, this was AMC’s best Memorial Day weekend since 2013.
Shares of AMC hit 2025 lows shortly ahead of the release of its first-quarter earnings, where the firm reported a smaller-than-anticipated loss, and are down about 12% year to date.
