Airlines surge following Powell’s hint at a September rate cut
Shares of US airlines are taking off Friday morning following Fed Chair Jay Powell’s Jackson Hole speech, in which he signaled a possible September rate cut.
American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, and United Airlines were all up more than 5%, while Southwest Airlines climbed about 3%. Smaller rivals JetBlue and Alaska Air were also up.
Cruise stocks and travel-booking sites rose on the speech as well.
