Trump to extend TikTok sale deadline another 90 days
TikTok is getting another lifeline. President Trump is set to sign an executive order that would push the divest-or-ban deadline for the popular social media app back by another 90 days.
On Wednesday, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt reinforced that the administration doesn’t want the app to go dark and will “ensure [a] deal is closed.”
This is the third time the date has been pushed back. In January, the app was offline in the US for just a day before coming back online and eventually being reinstated on the Google Play and Apple App store. The new deadline would push the current deadline, originally this Thursday, to around mid-September.
