Apple’s star-studded racing film “F1” crossed $293 million at the global box office over the weekend, making it the tech giant’s highest-grossing film to date. The movie beats out Ridley Scott’s “Napoleon,” which earned $221 million during its 2023 run.
The movie, distributed by Warner Bros. Discovery, has pulled in $60 million just from IMAX theaters, about 20% of its total haul. The film secured a three-week IMAX window that blocked “Jurassic World Rebirth” from a US IMAX release. While “F1” hasn’t quite lapped its reported $200 million to $300 million production budget yet, the early box office performance is already a major win for Apple’s growing entertainment business.
