Pre-workout or pre-game? FDA recalls cans of High Noon that were mislabeled as Celsius

Celsius, the maker of the fizzy energy drinks, was flat on the news.

Cans labeled as Celsius energy drinks meant to wake you up may have been trying to wind you down, according to a Wednesday recall from the Food and Drug Administration.

The FDA said 12-packs of High Noon Beach Variety were mislabeled as Celsius Astro Vibe, a nonalcoholic caffeinated beverage. The mixup was discovered after High Noon, owned by E&J Gallo Winery, noticed that a shared packaging supplier had mistakenly shipped it empty Celsius cans, the FDA said.

Consumption of the liquid in these cans will result in unintentional alcohol ingestion, the FDA said.

Celsius stock was flat on the day. The company is up more than 70% since the start of the year as its fizzy energy drinks gain in popularity.
